Singapore

Think Singapore and you probably imagine shopping malls, electronics stores and other consumer related activities, and you will be correct. What I did not expect to find was a very well planned city with plenty of parks, old buildings and a great water front in a west-meets-east kaleidoscope.

It is obviously a city that boasts wealth and commerce, but at the same time maintains its own flavor making it a metropolis where I could certainly live in.

During the day and a half that we were there we visited the waterfront and Little India, leaving the malls and Sentosa Island for others, and it turned out to be a good plan. The clean sidewalks meander through a park and along the river, showing off its modern CBD skyline on one side and the City Hall and several churches in the other. Accommodation is not cheap, but Mitraa Guesthouse was a great bet with very clean facilities and very helpful staff.

With a little bit of money and some time Singapore is a place that can keep you busy for at least 2 or 3 days (shopping not included) so don’t miss it if you have the chance. And don’ forget you camera- there are many pictures to be taken!

The Central Business District skyline is one of the many examples in Singapore of the many terrific buildings that it is home to. Plenty of tourists take flights to Singapore for viewing the skylines and the many awesome attractions.
