Ha — you nailed it! I love Mexico, but I don’t love driving here. Also, I learned years ago that the prime rule for remaining a calm passenger is to never, ever look out the front window.
Just discovered your site & admire it greatly.

Been to Cuba, I have always want to go to Mexico. Sadly every year there are stories about foreign tourist get injured/died there. Hope the town pictured above are safe

Oh Fede! This looks so awesome. I haven’t traveled to Mexico yet, but I want to go SO badly! I had to spend a night there via a layover and loved the short glimpse I had of the city.

I went to Mexico a couple of years ago on a road trip – we drove about 2.500kms in a tiny car with too much luggage and without aircon. Funny things that happened on the road? Many! A girl drove straight into a tree when trying to drive backwards and we couldn’t open the back of the car for 3 days (then, once open, we couldn’t close it ever again). In Chiapas, kids put ropes on the ground to stop us, we saw their parents “hiding” behind the bushes! We obviously gave them what they asked for (which usually was either to buy something or to give something). At one point we bought a huge amount of bananas only found out that just 2 hours later others stopped us to ask for food.
And what to tell you about those speed bumps…!! most of the time, there was no warning sign, so we used to fly over them!
