Short Stay Apartments in London: the Alternative to Hotels?

For many people, using short stay apartments in London will be the key to a successful visit to the UK capital. Not only do they come in at a considerably lower cost than hotel rooms of an equivalent standard – up to 30% cheaper in many cases – but they also provide comfortable, spacious and relaxed accommodation with the benefits of maid service and a staffed reception desk.

There are many reasons for business travelers to stay in the capital. It could just be for a single night in order to make an early morning meeting, or for several nights when attending a conference or working on a specific project away from the office. The anonymity of hotel rooms, together with the lack of freedom can be a significant disincentive to businesspeople who need to be away from home on a regular and frequent basis.

Apartments such as Kensington apartments  will offer the best value for money to companies. It’s a cheaper option than paying for overpriced hotels and makes far better sense financially than keeping a permanent apartment on the company’s books.

In London serviced apartments are the ideal solution to the problem of staff relocation. Whether the individual is relocating for a short term contract, or is moving permanently and needs a stop gap until they find the right home of their own, short stay apartments are instantly ready for occupancy. They provide a real home from home and allow a more comfortable and informal environment than a hotel.

Apartments in London are extremely well appointed. Food lovers will appreciate having a kitchen that’s fully fitted and equipped to enable cooking to a high standard, as well as having a microwave oven, dishwasher and washing machine. Unlike hotel rooms which are usually very cramped, serviced apartments have far more space in which to relax and would be suitable for meetings if required.

For leisure travellers considering short stay accommodation is not only a cheaper option than a hotel but also offers far more flexibility. Apartments suit families extremely well and are a great choice for a group of friends, or for the lone traveller. Usually centrally located, they provide the ideal base from which to explore London.

When sightseeing is done for the day, an apartment offers a sanctuary for relaxation and will be equipped with cable or satellite TV and in many cases a DVD and an audio system. Maid service takes away the tedium of tidying and cleaning. Apartments are priced per unit not per person, so can offer extremely good value. All taxes and utility bills are included and the only extra you will need to pay for is phone calls.

Whatever your reason for needing accommodation in London, a serviced apartment gives excellent value for money and the ultimate in flexibility and comfort.

  4. Good article. When we went to London a couple of years ago we found the cost of accomodation crippling.Eventually we came home early because we almost ran out of money. We want to go back for another visit as we liked it so much, so we definately will investigate serviced apartments

    1. I’ve just used a similar service in Hawaii. Paid 30 USD less/night vs the cheapest hotel, and had lots more space and freedom.

  5. Nice tip! We are planning to go to London but for two months in January and the biggest problem we are facing is finding quite a cheap accommodation in London. The prices are soo high!

Do you have any tips on getting cheap accommodation if we are going to stay 2 months?
    Thank you

    Chris

    1. 2 months is a fair amount of time. If on the cheap negotiate a deal with a good hostel and get a good private room. Otherwise you could rent a room with somebody or probably score a normal rent, though in London nothing is cheap.

  6. I would love to live in that apartment; I’m a fan of black and white themes in places and especially love the checkerboard carpet in the living area. I imagine these would be great for a small family who is moving? I wonder if the rates increase per person.
