While in Melbourne I had the chance to visit my good friend Cong and enjoy good times with his family and friends. One of the suprises he had for us was hot vit lon, a vietnamese dish which consists of duck fetus eaten straight from the egg. This same dish is eaten in the Philippines, but is called Balut there. It’s not as bad as it looks… enjoy the video!
Have you ever eaten this? Would you? Or how about something unusual? Where did you eat it? Tell me about it and add a link to your video if you have one! And please share this post if you liked it!
I hope now you can say something with vietnamese. 🙂 One of my suggest “See you again” can say “Hen gap lai”. 🙂
I also know how to say “Vo!” Thanks for the phrase though, I’ll try to remember 🙂
you are my HERO. I can’t believe you ate that!!! awesome!! It was like watching a trainwreck – i couldn’t look away even if i wanted to!
Haha…it was weird…only 2 of my Vietnamese buddies could even eat it! But is didn´t taste bad…:)
He DEFINITELY made it easier for you taking the fetus with his chopsticks! LOL! I have a lot of Filipino friends so I’ve seen balut, just never tried it. I don’t think I could eat that, but I tip my hat off to you 🙂 What would you say is the most oddest food item you ate so far?
Perhaps the tarantula was weirder, but I prefered its taste 🙂
Haha, liked the video (NOT), but I think I’d like to try that someday.
Hey Gary, it doesn’t taste bad at all. It simply feels awkward 😉
Oi Federico – que malo!
I was gagging while watching this. As much as I would like to say I’m open to new things, I’m not sure I would have done this. :X
Ugh. Still making my stomach turn.
Hi Erica!
Haha! I must admit I’d rather have three tarantulas than one of those again. The taste is not that good, something like boiled chicken (which is almost what it is) but with an unattractive appearance. When you travel to Ecuador you’ll have to try Cuy…tell me if you like it!
Federico 🙂
After seeing what you eat I’m a little scared to take your suggestions. <3
