Banos (Baños) is one of the most visited towns in Ecuador because of the adventure activities that can be enjoyed along the river and waterfalls and perhaps most important, Tungurahua volcano, one of the few active volcanoes in South America easily accessible and as mighty yet threatening as it can be. It is relatively easy to enjoy a view such as this one if you walk for about 20 minutes down the main road into the valley, but if it is night action what you’re really after then join any of the tours available (read my post about waterfalls, volcanoes and attractions of Banos ). It is fascinating to watch nature’s power when possible, and this is one of those opportunities you shouldn’t miss if you can.
