Sotol is an alcoholic beverage found in the northern deserts of Mexico, particularly in the states of Chihuahua and Durango. It is stronger than Tequila, but less sweet, and since it’s not produced “en masse” it almost disappeared just a few years ago. Fortunately local brewers and artisans have taken it upon themselves to keep the tradition alive and it is now found in small liquor stores throughout this region. What makes this liquor so special? Just watch the video, but here’s a warning: some of you might have trouble doing so particularly if you don’t like reptiles…
This video was filmed independently during a press trip sponsored by the Chihuahua Tourism Board, but the opinions and descriptions are, as always, my own.
Have you tried anything like this before? What was it? Did you have a hard time doing so? And if you haven’t…would you? Share your thoughts with us the comments section below, and this post too if you like it!
Isn’t it poisonous? But that’s one of a kind liquor, and I haven’t heard it before!
I hope it’s not..otherwise my future doesn’t look very promising!
Very cool, I’d definitely try it.
Yikes, I think I’d be afraid it would come back alive and jump out of the jug and bite me. 🙂
That would be scary…and a good prank Gina!
Wow, I enjoy this video. Really interesting…..thanks for sharing.
