2 Restaurants Where to Eat and Drink in Palm Springs

The restaurant scene in Palm Springs is alive and ample, with plenty of great choices where to splurge in. From some fast food joints to mostly high quality restaurants offering all kinds of food, we did get the chance to eat out a few times, though admittedly we did dine at our rented house more often than not (lunch was usually eaten quickly while visiting some attraction).  N and S Palm Canyon Drive has more restaurants than any other street in town, and it is here that most locals and visitors end up when looking for food. But with so much to chose from, where should you go? The following are two restaurants where to eat and drink in Palm Springs we ate in. None of them was very expensive and the food was good in both, though the style of each one was quite different.

Eight4Nine Restaurant and Lounge

Eight4Nine is an eclectic, relatively new restaurant on N Canyon Drive.  I found it difficult to spot from the street because its name is not facing Canyon Drive, but it’s easy to spot if you know it’s white building between W Tamarisk Rd and W Alameda . The building used to be the Palm Springs post office back in 1954, but it has since been remodeled several times and today features several areas for convivial dining, a swanky lounge and a patio terrace for those who love to be outdoors. While open to everyone we found many of the patrons to be part of the local LGBT community, and was the winner of the Best Restaurant Award of the  2016 Ultimate Pride by the Desert Sun.

As for the food, the menu features “a celebration of West Coast Modern American Cuisine which focuses on both presentation and flavors.” It includes beginnings, several salads, sandwiches, eggs, sea and land mains as well as pasta, separated into two menus: one for lunch and another for dinner.

Look out for the white building on the corner- it took us a while to spot it as its name is not facing N Canyon Drive.

The presentation of the food was impeccable, including dish decoration, silverware and plates. The food was very good too, though I did find the pasta dish to lack some flavor. Service was top notch. The Chocolate Lemon Zest Marshmallow Fondue was to die for though, and this comes from someone who isn’t a big fan of marshmallows (but loves chocolate).

My Thoughts

Swanky, cool and neat looking, Eight4Nine is a great restaurant I would recommend for couples and friends looking for a chic place where to enjoy fantastic cocktails and good food. From my experience I would suggest the salads and seafood dishes…and don’t skip dessert!

Zin American Bistro

Zin American Bistro is a casual yet elegant restaurant serving lunch, brunch and dinner menus, as well as cocktails and beer menus. Seafood, meat, salads and other tasty appetizers can be enjoyed at decent prices with the company of your partner, friends or family in a classical Mediterranean environment. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating where patrons can enjoy Palm Spring’s perfect winter weather…or stay inside when it gets too hot in the summer.
We enjoyed a nice dinner on a warm night, choosing lighter salad and seafood dishes over the rest of the menu. The plates were well served, the food was very tasty and service was quick and efficient too, a fantastic way of wrapping up a fun packed day.

My Thoughts

Another great restaurant where to eat and drink in Palm Springs, Zin American Bistro is a classy and casual restaurant where the food is what people come to enjoy. It’s a great place where to sit, relax and enjoy time with your group or family while eating high quality food at medium prices.

I was a guest of both of these restaurants, but the pictures and opinions are true and entirely my own… as always.
